True Loyalty

Loyalty is the state or quality or state of being loyal; fidelity to a superior or duty, love. It is the act of binding oneself (intellectually or emotionally) to a course of action. It is generally the feeling of allegiance. The reverse and opposite of this is betrayal and abandonment. Loyalty establishes a link between the partakers involved. Loyalty is key among and between couples, friends, organization, associations, etc. betray to a friend is the worst thing one could do to those whom that they have trusted. The establishment of loyalty is established via various methods. In Kenya, we have the loyalty pledge whose some of the words are, ‘I pledge my loyalty to the president and the nation of Kenya…’ Which illustrates that all Kenyans are to pledge loyalty to the CEO of Kenya and the nation at large. It sounds good, doesn’t it? But is that the case on the ground where by tribalism, rampage, looting of public funds, trading of justice, exploitation amongst others? This is an act of pinning people’s hearts.

This is an all-world experience: betrayal. Our own Lord Jesus Christ was a victim of betray from one of His own, Judas Iscariot with whom He had spent three years. Irrespective of that, He had the eleven who maintained their course of allegiance to Him. An old testament by the name Daniel who had true allegiance to God. Being in the land of exile, Babylon, he stood to his call of worship and duty to serve his purpose amid the vast challenges that were there. The king had ordered that they should be indoctrinated with the Babylonian literature. But in the course of all this, he remained faithful to God irrespective of the repercussion that would arise of his lifestyle of failing to conform to the patterns of the Babylonian rue. In the same time was the three friends of Daniel: Meshack, Shadrack and Abednego. The threat of being furnace or being served as meal to lions did not change their loyalty to God. The Disciples of Christ Jesus after His departure took the course of advancing the Gospel after that which they had experienced and witnessed of the Lord Christ Jesus which was a root cause of that which they experienced later on. This was included of facing tyrant rule which killed many, all of them, but they would not give up on the believe in the person of Christ Jesus. This brings forth the beautiful song:

I pledge allegiance to the Lamb, with all my strength, with all I am, I will seek to honor His commands, I pledge allegiance to the Lamb

I have heard how Christians long ago, were brought before a tyrants throne, they were told that he would spare their lives, If they would renounce the name of Christ, But one by one, they chose to die, The Son of God, they would not deny, like a great angelic choir sings, I can almost hear their voices ring

I pledge allegiance to the Lamb, with all my strength, with all I am, I will seek to honor His commands, I pledge allegiance to the Lamb, Now, the years have come and the years have gone, and the ’cause of Jesus still goes on, Now, our time has come to count the cost, to reject this world, to embrace the Cross

And one by one let us live our lives, For the One who died to give us life, Till the trumpet sounds on the final day, Let us gladly stand and boldly say, I pledge allegiance to the Lamb, with all my strength, with all I am, I will seek to honor His commands, I pledge allegiance to the Lamb

To the Lamb of God who bore my pain, who took my place, who wore my shame, I will seek to honor His commands, I pledge allegiance to the Lamb, I pledge allegiance to the Lamb, with all my strength, with all I am, I will seek to honor His commands, I pledge allegiance to the Lamb.

Jesus Christ presented to us a model of allegiance and loyalty. Irrespective of Him being aware of the sufferings awaiting Him, He never changed His mind no matter what. He remained faithful to the course so as to bring salvation and redemption to mankind. He had a big image of what He was to bring to the universe. The disciples saw the bigger image, living for God and serving Him and worshipping Him eternally. They saw the crown of life

When we give ourselves to God, he comes and dwells within us. He reward them that seek Him diligently (Hebrews 11:6). This is the part of our effort. Grace is not opposed to effort, but earning. The allegiance of men can shift based on various issues and circumstances but the allegiance to God will never fail.  He has already proved to humanity that he can be trusted and tats what he is looking in us. He expects us to be true to His call. We’ve been given a chance to trust in Him and experience His faithfulness for He will help us to stand. We are called to pledge our allegiance to the Lord.
