The cover

C.S. Lewis once said that in talking of a crooked line, then one must be having an idea of one that is straight. And so is the idea of a good thing when one is talking of bad or evil. Many are the times we set goals of our own in various activities and events and undertakings of life, but sometimes we end up not meeting them. We fail terribly to honour our target and to meet the bar we had put for ourselves. We set standards yet fail to keep them.
I think of it when we were in primary school and the mathematics teacher would work with targets. Off course many perceived this subject as some sort of a quarry, till today. The pass mark most of the time would be 50%. Failure to get this meant a full dose which was equivalent to the number of marks one had short-off to 50%. But the teacher did not just set the pass mark then vegetate like an arrowroot in the office but came to class to teach. As a matter of fact he went to an extra mile of extending classes after the schooling hours were over. Yet we failed; at time and not all of us.
Think of it this way, someone setting a limit for you then assures you that to acquire the set target you just need to exercise a small task of being submissive to him. God has set standards which are too high for us to get on our own. His ways are not ours nor His thoughts ours. For as the heavens are to the earth so are we in comparison to Him. His foolishness is far much greater than the wisdom of man. In the reality of this, God in His mercies has taken up the task of helping us to the end of the race. Imagine you and I have failed to honour our standards; what of His?

When I think of salvation, what lingers into my mind is Grace – the unmerited favour. This is what flows from the seat of Jehovah. By His coming to the universe and dying on the cross is a clear illustration of love. And what He has established is a clear way that is easier with our trust in Him. He is the way, truth and life and no one goes to the father except through Him. Your effort in attaining the level of Holiness He want is not based on how good you are but rather in believing in Him, submission unto Him and entrusting all of you unto Him. Our efforts He brands filthy rags (sanitary towels). To those that believe in Him He gave the power to become the children of God.
Christ has taken that place of ours in the failures we’ve had and has given us a cover. However, osmosis is not what works in this arena of life but faith. It is unto them that have believed in His atonement that have the full realization of the cover. Additionary, all is not lost for all are welcome to partake for what matters is not the far one is from the pass-mark/ bar, but the willingness of that particular person to trust in the Lordship of Jesus. None that is rejected upon coming unto Him. The call is round and clear for He came to us who are imperfect that we may become perfect in Him and through Him. His hands are ever wide open to receive anyone who cometh unto Him.
Salvation is found in no other name other than the name of Christ Jesus – whose mentioning leads to the bowing of every knee and confession of every tongue.
